About the Global Recognition Award "Good Practices for Employees with Disability”


Considering the success of the first two editions of the Best Companies Award for Employees with Disability, in which it was possible to identify a significant number of companies that have good practices for the inclusion of persons with disability in the labor market, the São Paulo State Secretariat for the Rights of the Person with Disability (SEDPcD / SP) - has established important partnerships to carry out an international version of the award entitled “Global Recognition - Good Practices for Employees with Disability".

For the promotion of the event, the SEDPcD had the collaboration of the Special Advisory for International Affairs of the State Government of São Paulo, from i.Social, a consultancy firm on the inclusion of persons with disability in the labor market, the support of the United Nations Global Compact , The Brazil Network of the Global Pact, from the Latin American Network of Non-Governmental Organizations of Persons with Disability and their Families - RIADIS, as well as partnerships with the International Disability Alliance (IDA) and the International Council for Caring Communities (ICCC), with the Fondazione Rosselli Americas - FRAmericas, and with the Global Initiative for Inclusive Information and Communication Technologies - G3ict.

The award ceremony was promoted by the State Secretariat for the Rights of the Person with Disability of the Government of the State of São Paulo, in partnership with the Secretariat of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disability and the Permanent Mission of Brazil at the United Nations, and was held on December 2, 2016, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

It was a special event as in 2016 the Tenth Anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disability was celebrated. There could be no better opportunity to honor and recognize the companies that have been committed to promote an inclusive working environment for employees with disability.

The goal of this event was to identify and highlight good practices of inclusion of persons with disability in the labor market adopted by national and foreign companies, allowing an environment of exchange of experiences between them, recognizing internationally the successful initiatives that are positive examples in this important challenge of building an inclusive company, conceived for all.

Sixteen Brazilian companies and ten foreign companies were awarded in accordance to the following criteria: management, organizational culture, recruitment and selection, protagonism and accessibility.

All of them received a Global Recognition plaque for their inclusive practices, an accessible digital book including all the participant companies and a flash drive with demonstrative videos of the good practices of the participant companies of the event Global Recognition “Good Practices for Employees with Disability”.

Thus, the novelty of the 2017 edition of the Award is that foreign companies, based outside the Brazilian territory, can register on this same website- http://pmetcd.sedpcd.sp.gov.br, and once selected, will be able to participate with their own resources, to the award ceremony to be held in the city of São Paulo – SP/Brazil, in the first fortnight of December 2017.
